Share-a-Night

...at the hospital, parents pace the hallway as their child undergoes hours of critical surgery, then spend long days sitting by their bedsides, comforting them and waiting for the day when they can take their child home.

At the end of this, and every long day, these parents will spend their nights at the Ronald McDonald House® of Southwest Florida.

At night, when the lights go out in the House, not everyone is able to sleep. Moms and dads are often kept awake by worries about a child's health and the financial responsibilities associated with their child's serious illness. Your family can make a difference by giving a gift to the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southwest Florida. All donations are used here locally at our House.

Sharing the expenses of housing a family for a night at our House is like inviting them into your own home. You will be providing a warm, comfortable bed for a tired parent and child without ever turning down the covers. Knowing that, might help you sleep a little better too.

One more thing: Although our actual cost of providing a room for a family is $48.00 a night, families are only asked to contribute a nominal fee of $10.00 a night. Many of our families do not have the resources to pay even this amount, but we never turn anyone away due to inability to pay. Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southwest Florida is NOT a United Way agency and we receive NO state or federal funding. We rely 100% on private donations, such as yours.

$10.00 hosts a family for one night. $70.00 hosts a family for one week. $300.00 hosts a family for one month.

Pull-Tabs

What is a pull-tab?
A pull-tab is the piece of metal that opens aluminum cans. Like the can, the pull tab is able to be recycled. It is a small piece, yet a valuable piece.

Why collect pull-tabs?
Pull-tabs are an easy way to recycle and help our House. It is a task that people of all ages can do. The amount of money received is determined by the weight of the tabs and the current price per pound being paid for them. Saving the tab is a simple and clean way of recycling for our House. All the collections add up to make a heartfelt impact in working together to provide a home-away-from-home for the families during the medical treatment of their seriously ill child. The dollars raised are put 100% back into the direct operations of our local House.

Why not collect the entire can?
The pull-tabs are easily removed and cleaner to collect than cans, enabling our House to handle large volumes with less storage space.

Family Meal

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southwest Florida is recruiting volunteers for our Family Meal Program. Couples, families, organizations, service clubs, schools, offices, businesses and  individuals are encouraged to participate.

"C'mon over" to our House and enjoy the experience of preparing a meal in our large kitchen facility. (Providing the ingredients for the meal you prepare is greatly appreciated by all families staying here at our House.) While here, you might overhear conversation between some of our families and learn first hand just how much they appreciate your gift of a hot meal.

What could give a family facing life and death decisions more comfort than a meal prepared by loving hands and warm hearts, served up piping hot, sprinkled with lots of love. Where else but the Ronald McDonald House® ~ "The House That Love Built!"

Times for meals must be scheduled. To schedule your special time once a week, once a month or for the holidays, please call (239) 437-0202.

Volunteers

We have many opportunities for volunteers within the Charity, to include household chores, office tasks, fundraising, website maintenance, community awareness, outreach, etc.  Please come by the house for a tour (any day of the week between  9:00 am and 7:00 pm), pick up a Volunteer Packet, fill out the Volunteer Application (in the packet or online), then send or bring it to the Ronald McDonald House.
